5 Regional Year 4 E-rate Workshops Scheduled - Register Now!
Message Posted September 13, 2000

The E-rate 470 application process for Year 4 has begun and it's time for schools and libraries to begin planning for their Year 4 applications. In order to provide schools and libraries with the most up-to-date E-rate information and tips on maximizing their discount, the Office of Educational Technology will be conducting 5 workshops around the state from mid-October to early November.

Each workshop is 2 1/2 hours long and is geared for applicants who previously have applied -- not for school and library personnel who are E-rate beginners (three separate beginners workshops are being held for those individuals). Registration is required at least 72 hours in advance via the links listed below.

There will be numerous topics covered -- many of which are based on suggestions 212 of you submitted in the recent online E-rate survey. They include:

* How to Raise Your Discount

* How to Get LAN/WAN Requests Funded as Priority 1 Services

* What are Specific Words/phrases to Avoid on Applications

* What Changes/Improvements are Planned for Year 4

* Tips for Submitting Appeals

* Improved SLD Eligibility List (with off-line comments added by state e-rate coordinators)

* Discussion of Cellular Service Eligibility and other Unclear Items

* What to Do If You Don't Get $ from Vendors in a Timely Manner

* What are Current Rules Regarding Changing Services and Service Providers in Mid-year.

* What are the Important Deadlines for Years 2, 3 & 4

Seating is limited -- so register early! We look forward to seeing you there!
